Our Team
Alex Hammock
Alex with her first horse Klassy are the founders of HK Horses. She has always loved horses and any animal she could be around. Her parents often joke that her first word was horse. Throughout her 20 years of formal riding experience, 14 years of horse ownership, and 15 years of experience teaching kids in many aspects, Alex has accumulated a vast knowledge and understanding of equines. She started taking western lessons at the age of 8 and continued until the age of 14 when she received Klassy as a Christmas present. They lightly competed in Barrel Racing throughout the years. She then still had a lot of guidance from her trainer over the years and taught herself a lot as well. Throughout college she worked on a well known metro Atlanta english horse farm caring for high end imported english horses daily. In 2020 her and Katelyn Underhill became best friends through dog training. Recently Alex has obtained Maverick from Katelyn as her second horse. In the summer of 2023 Alex also adopted an untouched wild mustang to train. She is deeply passionate about sharing her expertise with her students and takes great joy in witnessing their growth and achievements. Whether the students are young or older, Alex has an unwavering commitment to their success, both on and off the horse. Her enthusiasm can be heard from afar as she cheers loudly for every student accomplishment. Furthermore, Alex possesses a unique ability to motivate and inspire her students, always encouraging them to step out of their comfort zones and embrace new challenges. Ultimately, with her guidance and support, students can be assured that they will be pushed to do their very best and conquer the seemingly daunting tasks that lie ahead.
Katelyn Underhill
Katelyn got involved with horses at the young age of 8 years old. She always had a love for all animals, but dogs and horses were always her top pick. She began taking Western horse lessons from a local trainer and she fell in love with it even more. As she continued taking lessons she learned how to tack up and care for horses. Her lessons abruptly came to a stop when the trainer had to move. Fast forward to the age of 15 where she got her first job caring for Miniature horses and her love grew even more. She did barn chores, grooming, assisted in training and showing the miniature horses, she even learned how to drive a horse and cart. At the age of 20 she began taking horse lessons at another local barn and learned English riding and dabbled in the jumping world. Talk about some adrenaline! English lessons came to a holt when her father passed away and Katelyn stepped away from the horse world for a bit. When she was 25 she purchased her very own horse, Maverick. Her love for horses picked back up. She began learning how to barrel race and ride Western all over again with the help and guidance from Alex. We became best friends and spent all of our free time working horses and learning together. Katelyn obtained her second horse, Royal a few years later. Katelyn and Alex moved our horses to a new property, a slice of heaven for us and our horses. Katelyn then obtained her Percheron, Stark. We began wanting to share our love and knowledge to others and began taking on lessons students. In 2023, Katelyn adopted 2 wild, untouched and untamed mustangs to further her education and experience with working and training horses. Katelyn loves involving her horses in lessons, having family come out and do trail rides and traveling to shows and new locations to enjoy trails and competitions.
